The DVS Carbon is an instrument capable of precisely analyzing the gravimetric sorption properties of both carbon dioxide (CO₂) and water (H₂O), with applications spanning Carbon Capture, Utilization and Storage (CCUS) and beyond. 

What is DVS Carbon? 


The latest addition to the DVS product family, the DVS Carbon is the first gravimetric sorption analyzer specifically built for advanced Carbon Capture, Utilization and Storage (CCUS) applications.


In most gas-phase carbon capture applications, CO₂ often competes with other chemical species present at the sorbent site — including water vapor. The new DVS Carbon enables measurement of CO₂ uptake under real-world conditions by controlling both temperature and humidity across a broad range of CO₂ concentrations.


Using the patented Surface Measurement Systems UltraBalance to measure mass changes from sample sorption and desorption in real time, the DVS Carbon allows for the evaluation of complex carbon capture conditions across a wide variety of materials. The system can also be configured to enable additional functions as needed.

In-Situ Activation and Regeneration 


When the instrument's capabilities are extended with the pre-heater, samples can be locally heated up to 300 °C under inert or process gas, enabling direct determination of drying activation or decomposition reaction kinetics.
